THE EDGAR 6 CHALLENGE

RACE REPORTS
The E6C isn't all about the racing but we do enjoy it.

It was never about the racing but going for a run knowing a race is on the horizon can give you an extra incentive to get out. We have completed parkruns, 10k, 12.5k, 10 mile, half marathons and marathon races. Maybe next year we'll be able to add ultra-marathon to the list.

There is something immensley enjoyable about running a race, be it the social aspect, the buzz from the crowds, enjoying the competitiveness, or the adrenaline making you run faster than you thought possible.

Why not join the Edgar 6 Challenge on Strava and add to the number of races we've ran.

Brian Goodwin 10k

Brian Goodwin 10k

I decided at the start of the year that 2017 was the year that I would actually train for a 10k. Whilst I've run loads of 10ks in the past, it's fair to say that I've never been delighted with my times and - more importantly - I can honestly say I've never enjoyed...

Stirling Scottish Marathon

Stirling Scottish Marathon

After months of training and a dubious taper period, it had finally arrived. The Stirling Scottish Marathon was about to kick off. Here I’ll look over my training, the taper and the race itself. Beware, it’s a long read! Training I had written about my training plan...

Victoria Parkrun 8 April 2017

Victoria Parkrun 8 April 2017

In the absence of this year’s Dunky Wright 5k Road Race in Clydebank, Victoria Parkrun was to be my club’s stand-in 5k Championship . The Dunky Wright was my first proper race so I was disappointed that it was cancelled this year. It would have given me a great...

Jack Crawford 10k

Jack Crawford 10k

Jack Crawford Springburn Cup 10K I started this race with very little optimism due to a nasty cold picked up in the days before and various aches and pains in the legs. However with some positive encouragement from my fellow E6C’ers and a pack of max strength cold and...

Kirkintilloch 12.5k

Kirkintilloch 12.5k

Running through my head thinking of writing up this report is the tune of Duran Duran’s Girls on Film, replaced with the words, Hills, Hills, Hills. The Kirkintilloch 12.5k had 12 of them. The race was out in Lauder’s neck of the woods so I was expecting some of the...

Nigel Barge 10k

Nigel Barge 10k

Sunday 22nd January saw my debut at the Nigel Barge 10k. The race is one of the oldest races in Scotland, having being run every year since 1943. It is organised by my club, the Maryhill Harriers, and starts off in Garscube Sports Complex, taking a hilly route through...

Kev’s Xmas Eve Bumper 5k

Kev’s Xmas Eve Bumper 5k

Christmas Eve 2016 saw the introduction of the inaugural Kev's Xmas Eve Bumper 5k. The rules were simple - go and run 5k as fast as you can. A mate from work was doing Strathclyde Parkrun in the morning and challenged me to race him during the week. I wasn't going to...

Great Scottish Run

Great Scottish Run

Sunday 2nd October was my debut racing the half marathon distance – a distance I had covered every now and again in training runs but not on a consistent basis. It was also my first mass participation event and it was funny to think that I was racing world class...

Great Carradale Canter 10k

Great Carradale Canter 10k

Away to Ardrishaig for the weekend, it was only right that I had a look for any local races. I was in luck as Sunday 10th July saw The Great Carradale Canter return for its second year. The Canter features two races, a 10k and 5k, starting five minutes apart from...
